Synopsis
The film is set in a provincial town in February 1917. Social order is falling apart, and Bulychev, the head of a large local firm, is dying. He tries various priests, sorcerers, and faith-healers—even though he knows they are all frauds—but none of them, of course, can cure his cancer.
