This flick is basically nothing but a glorification of police duty and state power. I was waiting for an interlude saying sth like "Proudly sponsored by the nypd - Join us today!". It's true that Phoenix plays his role nicely, but I found Eva Mendes to look kind of ridiculous at his side. 0ne star for my favourite scene, the pursuit in the rain, which was somehow unconventional and breathtaking.
