Our take

Steve Buscemi’s first feature as a director is an overlooked indie soaked in alcohol and nihilistic humor, mirroring its protagonist’s unique blend of melancholy and comedy. Appearances by Chloë Sevigny, Samuel L. Jackson, and Seymour Cassel make Trees Lounge an enviable ’90s hangout spot.
