Our take

Bullets fly in Luis García Berlanga’s classic of post-Francoist cinema, and they are headed for some prominent targets. Skewering the hypocrisy and corruption of Spain’s ruling class, Berlanga shows us a society in profound disarray, where the rich have made their bed and now have to lie in it.
