Our take

Based on the acclaimed novel by Ian McEwan (Atonement), and starring the wondrous Emma Thompson as a powerful judge in what has been called one of the best roles of her career, The Children Act paints a gripping tale in which moral questions are addressed amidst personal and professional turmoil.
