Our take

The dextrous Jacques Audiard (A Prophet) grabs the American crime film by the collar and gives it a very French twist in this dazzling remake of James Toback’s Fingers. The result is an irresistible cocktail of loose rhythms and tightly wound men, conjuring Paris’s fatalistic crime underworld.
