Years after Tamara Drewe left Ewedown, she returns to her native village with a new nose and good intentions. But when a rock star, a gardener and a celebrated writer fall madly in love with her, the troubles start creeping into paradise. - The old in the new || lumpy but witty || crossover perfection
Schade!
It looks nice enough throughout, the lovely rural setting helps to make this a comfortable vewing experience, it's technically all well and good, and the cast all do what's asked of them, but this is a disappointing film that could have worked better as a 6-part BBC series, in my opinion.
A hotchpotch of a film that isn't without its charm, due in some part to the casting & setting, but there are problems abound in the script. Characters are inconsistent, stereotypical & most are either flat or overplayed i.e the doting teenager Jody is crass even for a teenager. Then we have an uncomfortable mix of trying to be funny and serious at the same time. Recommended for light-hearted feel-good viewing only.
