British filmmaker Shane Meadows followed his BAFTA-winning triumph This is England with this gentle monochrome wonder. Reuniting with his greatest find, the teenage actor Thomas Turgoose, Meadows mounts a spirited tale of friendship and young love that zestfully bounds between London and Paris.
