Our take

One of the first films to chronicle the aftermath of Japan’s 2011 nuclear catastrophe, this is a searing portrait of the inhabitants who remained in the radioactive zone. Toshi Fujiwara balances poetic narration with ground-level footage, but all is secondary to the eloquent testimony of survivors.
