Meet John Doe Directed by Frank Capra

Critics reviews

This is the last Capra film released before the War Department enlisted him to make the Why We Fightpropaganda pictures, and it displays his agitprop lexicon already cranking at full throttle… Touches like peppily efficient message-montages, a mawkishly suicidal protagonist and righteous crescendoing speeches are unmistakably Capra, along with the usual witty screenplay from Robert Riskin, and typically fine performances (the two leads were likewise perfect in the same year’s Ball of Fire).
