Our take

An ingenious first feature from maverick British filmmaker Peter Strickland, this low-budget thriller was awarded Best Sound Design at the Berlin Film Festival. The eerie, mountainous landscapes of Romania offer a moody backdrop to this atmospheric, disquieting, and bewitching tale of revenge.
