Our take

Uncannily named after a mortal disease, Kala Azar is Greek cinema at its weirdest. Visual artist Janis Rafa’s astounding, apocalyptic road movie of sorts sinks its teeth into death rituals with unexpected sensuality, blurring the line between the animalistic and the human to startling effect.
