Our take

A hallucinogenic depiction of one man’s risky trip to the deepest recesses of the Amazon rainforest, Jonathas’ Forest is based on a haunting real-life event. Sérgio Andrade captures both the ferocity of the landscape and of the teenage experience with smoldering unease and acute sensitivity.
