Our take

Adapted from a novel by Stanisław Lem, this groundbreaking celestial adventure is one of the key works of contemporary science fiction. Pre-dating—and influencing—Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey, Ikarie XB 1 raised the bar for special effects and remains a true one-off in the annals of Czech cinema.
