[SIC] Remember those 'take it or leave it' days, regarding art or entertainment? Those days are gone. The digital ink wasted on this, pro and for? Sad. Any 'Vis a Vis'/"Locked Up" television episode has more cinema, feminism, female agency and bechdel than all of the excruciatingly bad 116 mins of this barf. Female reboots are a stillborn idea. Make great female-led Art from the ground up pls. McKinnon is Queen tho
Dommage.
2.1 stars. Twas alright! I was surprised, considering the amount of unnecessary furore the gender switch created, how much it adhered to the original formula. The script is peppered with some good jokes and it is worth watching for Kate McKinnon's captivatingly odd performance (which manages to just about transcend being a collection of quirks!) The ghosts, however, looked like they were from a hidden objects PC game
Every bit of dialogue or joke has no weight to the plot making scenes a mess of interchangeable parts. Story constantly stops for the improvised comedy leaving pacing all over the place and comes off more like a cringey SNL sketch than a movie. So many elements are just present without working towards whatever goal this movie was trying to accomplish.
The hate on this film is just ridiculous and sexist. It's definitely nowhere as near as the ORIGINAL GHOSTBUSTERS. The acting was not good as well but at least they tried. But Leslie Jones is funny (better than herself on SNL tbh). But the soundtrack is horrible.
