Our take

With a rawness and minimalism that would become part of his signature style, Gasolina marked Julio Hernández Cordón’s indelible arrival on the Latin American cinema stage. Winner of the Horizons Award at San Sebastián, this bold debut paints a polarizing portrait of youth in crime-ridden societies.
