I might be alone on this, but this is one of my favorite love stories of all time. While there is plenty of violence and nihilistic themes, it's the love story that is the thread that holds the whole film together. The main love interest is the motivation for all of the craziness. After the movie is over, when you ask yourself "why", the answer is love. Just keep that thought in your mind if you haven't seen it yet.
In the spirit of reviewing movies I like, I now review Fight Club. Fincher directs it with such a pulse, bringing the most out of his impeccable cast, and carrying us through a smartly-written film with vicious satire, and an unforgettable twist. One of the best movies of the 90s, easily.
We’re the middle children of history, man. No purpose or place. We have no Great War. No Great Depression. Our Great War’s a spiritual war… our Great Depression is our lives.
I suspect that the film's ironies are not always well understood.
Fight Club feels like a cinematic protein shake for sophomoric teens. Fincher has said the film is supposed to be funny, so I guess we're the butt of his joke.
"It's only after we've lost everything that we're free to do anything."
i mainly like this film because it defined a teenage streak in me that I believe I shared with many others. also it introduced me to the pixies which i don't really tell people
