Our take

Earning Tony Gatlif Best Director at Cannes, Exiles reverses the usual migrant narrative by sending its Franco-Algerian protagonists on a vibrant journey south. Shifting cultural textures make for a road movie brimming with purpose and adventure, with a pair of spirited performances leading the way.
