Our take

In another collaboration between cinematographer Sacha Vierny, composer Michael Nyman and the painstakingly attentive and avant-garde Peter Greenaway, this wryly comic, exceedingly clever mystery film forms the perfect puzzle. Intricate and elusive, a dark drama that’s still hugely playful.
