COSMOS

Trailer
Directed by Andrzej Żuławski
France, Portugal, 2015
Drama
      French
      English

Synopsis

Witold and his companion Fuchs are staying at Madame Woytis’ guesthouse when they discover a sparrow hanged in the woods. Reality soon mutates into a whirlwind of tension, histrionics, foreboding omens, and surrealistic logic as Witold becomes obsessed with Madame’s daughter Lena.

Our take

In his final film, the ferocious Polish auteur Andrzej Żuławski transforms an almost unfilmable book by his fellow countryman Witold Gombrowicz into a clamoring melodrama. A film adaptation of tremendous verve and surprise.
