In fact, the first part was much better and the story was knit and understood but in this part I see that the director has brought back the same story but with some changes that I personally did not like in terms of visual effects is a wonderful thing especially at that time
I have a feeling the third is going to be a one star because the further this goes the more convoluted and absurd it becomes. the first movie had charm and didn't mess around too much. this movie is far too much of a repeat. I just watched an 80% downgrade of the first movie.
There’s two-thirds of a good film here with a darker tone and some ace setup which is all squandered by the almost painfully padded chase after Biff and his Sports Almanac. Add to this the fact that the film is so busy setting up a second sequel (complete with a best-moments-spoiling trailer) that it forgets to reach a satisfying conclusion and feels almost incomplete.
While not quite as thoroughly charming or quotable as its predecessor (and featuring some dated visual and make-up effects), it's still a more-than-worthy follow-up to the original. Putting more emphasis on the science than the comedy this time around, it still showcases careful and intelligent screenwriting without losing any of the energy or entertainment value. It grabbed me just as tightly as the first film did.
This film's vision of the future is a ten year-old's dream come true (hoverboards! Self-tying shoes!), hence why this installment was always my favorite as a kid. I recall "Part II" had severely diminished in my estimation the last time I revisited it, but no: this sequel is quite good, even if it swaps the patient storytelling and warmth of its predecessor to become a breakneck thrill ride from the opening scene.
Really ups the ante and the stakes on the Oedipus jokes - troublingly and bizarrely. It's a film with a very freaky vibe to it. This is only too appropriate for a film about when time travel goes wrong and effectively allegorises the worst excesses of the 80s (a la 'Poltergeist 2') but I found it mighty disturbing as a child and not in a fun, ghoulish way! Would make provocative pairing with 'Twin Peaks: The Return'.
A sequel that expands the universe with a more complex story and actually thinks about the consequences with time travel. It fits nicely with the original and continues directly where the original left off but loses half a point by the fact that it can't stand on it's own feet.
