Our take

Filmmaker Claire Weiskopf sets out to “solve the mystery” of her mother Val in this documentary portrait of a true free spirit. With a title that evokes both the legendary female warriors and the river to which Val escapes, Amazona is a deeply personal meditation on motherhood and personal freedom.
