Our take

Based on the novel by Guillermo Arriaga, A Sweet Scent of Death stars a baby-faced Diego Luna in a very early role, playing a character who treads the fraught path towards manhood. Gabriel Retes’ chilling mystery tackles the toxicity of machismo with a fresh and contemporary feel.
