Synopsis
In 1935, a young American takes a job as a schoolteacher in a rural Saskatchewan town. Whatever naïve notions he has about the importance of his position are soon put to rest when he realizes that the townspeople, caught up in the trials of the Depression, are largely indifferent to his cause.
