“It was really liberating and rewarding being able to work on a black and white monster movie ['Frankenweenie'], not having to worry about color instead just concentrating on light and shadows and how to shape your sets and subjects to give it depth and volume. It’s very much about what’s suggested in the shadows and what you don’t show. It gives the movie a stronger more emotional feel.”
