“[MGM] did not give me a chance to work my way up. I just sat, except when I worked briefly in a film called ‘Song of Russia.’ All my scenes were cut out of that and I did nothing else. When my first year as a movie actress who didn’t act was up, I asked for my release. I went back to radio and I don’t mind saying I was feeling a little bitter.”
