“The initial request by the lead director [of 'Les Rivières Pourpres'] was to make the show darker than most series, but keeping in mind that France 2 did not want it to be too dark. So I opted for a relatively classic approach in the end, with soft lighting and a LUT which lifted the low lights while desaturating colors.”
